AFTER the chill of winter what better way to welcome spring then to bask in the sunshine over a long, relaxing lunch with friends.

The ‘Moree on a Plate Long Lunch’ has gained cult status across the region over the past three years and tickets will soon be available for the popular event.

To be held on Saturday, September 5 in the gardens of The Moree Plains Shire Gallery, the event complements the Moree on a Plate Festival held each May and aims to further promote the region’s produce. Narrabri’s Treen White of Relish Catering will deliver a five course menu showcasing mouth-watering fresh fare from across the region.

Live music from Moree band Hoi Polloi will also add to the relaxed atmosphere on the day.

Organiser Ros Van Dongen said the event was an opportunity for the community to come together in a relaxed, social atmosphere and enjoy a day out before the busy spring festive season inevitably kicks into gear.

“It’s also an opportunity to recognise and thank our generous sponsors and to further promote the fabulous variety of local produce on offer in the north west.

“From olive groves to pecan nut trees, our region is blessed with fertile soils and passionate producers and we are ideally placed as a leader on the regional fresh produce map.

“This event is an opportunity to celebrate our wonderful industry and aims to complement the annual Moree on a Plate Festival held each May.”

Held in the picturesque gardens of the Moree Plains Gallery, Ms Van Dongen said past Long Lunches had been hugely successful, with everyone enjoying the relaxed format.

Tickets to the event are now available and strictly limited so get in fast to avoid disappointment. Guests can purchase tickets at a cost of $80 from www.moreeonaplate.com.au, or in person at Webb and Boland, Moree.
